Body

The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. At Illinois, TRIO includes four programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to postbaccalaureate programs.

Beginning in 1966 with TRIO Upward Bound, these programs have been a staple of the Champaign-Urbana community. Eventually, we would add TRIO Student Support Services, TRIO McNair Scholars, and TRIO Talent Search programs that expanded our services to include middle school, high school, undergraduates and students applying to post-baccalaureate degrees.

If you have any questions regarding the Jeffries Center TRIO programs, please reach out to any of our program Assistant Directors or for more general questions, to our main office at jeffriescenter@illinois.edu
